At your Zoom meeting, you can handle disruptive attendees by either muting or removing them.

MUTE

The most common situation is when a participant is not muted but forgets they can be heard. They then begin a conversation with someone at their location or by answering a telephone. The easiest response is to do the following:

1. Click Participants at the bottom.
   This will open a screen on the right of your main screen
   It will list each of the participants in your room.
   It’s a good idea to have this open from the start.
2. Whoever is making noise will have their thumbnail screen highlighted in green.
3. Go to that name, hover over it, select Mute. 
   1. They can unmute themselves at any time.  
   2. Once Host mutes them, Host can tap their “muted mic” icon.
   3. It will send them a message to unmute.
4.  At the bottom of the Participants screen, there is also the option to Mute All.
   1. When you click that you will be given the option to allow participants to unmute themselves.
   2. This is a helpful button when you are trying to get a meeting going, but there are still several people who have not muted themselves. Allowing them to unmute themselves gives them the chance to ask questions later.

REMOVE

To quickly remove someone form the room:

1. Open the Participants screen.

2. Hover over the person’s name and click More.

3. Click REMOVE.
They will be removed from the room.

Note: Zoom meeting settings are set so that once a person is removed from a specific meeting they cannot return to that same meeting with the same email address. They could try with a different account. They will not be blocked from future meetings unless you complete the popup screen to BLOCK them.
